Parents’ Prayer

Twenty – eight years ago we put up our Christmas tree before November 13. Our daughter was due on November 13. Mike thought it would be a good idea to put the Christmas tree up before she was born because we would not have much time to decorate with a new baby in our home. That tradition continued and each year our Christmas tree went up shortly after Halloween. That is until this year. It is the day after Thanksgiving and our tree is still in the box! Why the delay? Because our sweet daughter who was born 28 years ago just got married the day before Thanksgiving and the wedding preparations took priority over the holiday preparations.
Not only did we put our Christmas tree up early 28 years ago, we began to pray that our new little baby girl would one day have a relationship with Christ. We also prayed that God would bless her life with a Godly Christian husband. She has grown into a beautiful Christian young lady and this week she married the Godly man that we have been praying for during the last 28 years. As parents it is so important that we pray for our children.
One of the scriptures that I prayed for our daughter, Kacie, was Ephesians 3:16-19 “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you (Kacie) with power through his Spirit in your (her) inner being, so that Christ my dwell in your (her) heart through faith. And I pray that you (Kacie) being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you (Kacie) may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Tears came to my eyes as that scripture was read during her wedding ceremony. Kacie and Austin had picked that verse not realizing that it was the verse that I had prayed over her during her high school and college years.
“Pray without ceasing” for your children and trust God to work in their live.
